rain coaxing

sleep is hard work

in this long wave of heat

your skin covered in a fine

diamond party shine of sweat

but you're trying

deepening into your body

loosening your grip on day

filling your lungs with the memory

of fresh night air

turning your sight inwards

imagining

you in a flowing unknown dress

delicate moon white but made

from something robust raincoaty

parachute like but elegant

with one shoulder free

you wear it with a fluffy lavender cardigan

barefoot in the park

visiting your special tree

the big serene horse chestnut

greeting you with joy but now

emitting low energy

the leaves a shrunken crepe paper

tired green

suddenly alarmed

catching tree thoughts

you let your cardigan fall

a luminous lavender shred

on the dark dry ground

and start dancing

in your moon white basic

coaxing a near-invisible shine

of moisture from the night air

shimmering young rain spirits

looking down on earth

from their little protective caves

in heaven

just clear and cool living

in the palace of heaven

you're dancing a prayer for moisture

to the green world

rain dancing rain coaxing

the diamantine shine

from spirit to misty to moist

come come out to play

in a dream within a dream

you wake up tense and poised like a dancer

tomorrow you're going to start training again

summer incarnate

lying down

releasing your tensions

making your eyes soft-sighted

slowing the rhythm of your body

sensing a heart outline

reaching from under your feet

to over your head

peaceful

imagining

your mystical twin

casual as the half crushed

mallow flowers in her brown hand

her skin dark against her smile

the light lavender silk blend

of her tank top with purple dots

in her outdoor bubble skirt

a vibrant shade of plum

with loosestrife print on deep pockets

she's summer incarnate

coming from a world full of life

to your doorstep

a treasure by the wayside

you've known her always

your summer vagabond

she says you could be too

casual as summer

she says it's easy

falling laughing through

the green screen of rainy leaves

whispering fat lilac silk dollop dreams

she says it's easy

you could be too

falling in song layers

a plum bubble skirt your parachute

to the spirited room

where the blackbird is

translating her into your life

you're breathing her in

knowing when you wake up

you can always return

to breathing your mystical twin

weightless

your pale lavender nightdress
with a star print down front
the softest cotton jersey cooling
your arms legs the drape embracing
your body sighing fast asleep
before even knowing it

when the light is out
the star print will be one single twinkling
star above your heart
you'll be navigating by a real star
in the real sky

but first you'll bring a cup of water
to your bedside
because you'll be gone for hours
dreaming in colourful serials
laughing waking wanting a drink of water

or you'll be away empty mindful mindless
turning on your side reaching for the cup
without even knowing it
then sinking back into the lavender weightless

replenishing your strength
quietly breathing the twinkling
star into your chest
feeling warm and cool and comfortable
in the pale soft lavender sky

content

what do you want to be
your answer used to be
don't know

the world being full
of people doing something
doing the same thing
so why should you
why would you
even try

but in school today
someone taught you
how to make a vase
a small container
sculpted with your hands
then glazed

now you know who you want to be
someone containing the world
making bowls cups chalices
vases flagons grails

making life containers
joy containers
world containers
that's what you want to do

but surely the world is already full
of people making lots of things
the same things

but then again
the world needs containers
all the time
for all kinds of things
and that's what you want to do

your work dress is white ripped cotton
but your working hands are wrapped
in a lavender blue scarf
in the evening
you zip it around you
it's your sleeping bag
for dreaming world shapes
