Readers sometimes ask how to understand 'the mystical twin' of the poems.
The mystical twin is complementary to the 'you' of the poems. Someone who is needed to fulfill the 'you', bringing drive or diversity.
This could mean an unknown friend, a teacher, a spiritual guide, a dream lover, a future workmate.
Also, the mystical twin represents the fascination and mystique of the world outside 'you'. Nobody is self-sufficient!

soul music playing in your ears
science homework forgotten

nobody in this place has ever had
a soul lover
no male in this place except you has ever had

not in his video glitter
but a lone wolf’s everyday jeans
and worn cotton sweater
like sweet real life
saying you’ll be alright in the future

your waterbed feels like the sea
rocking you gently
dreamy on warm waves
your arms falling fingers touching
the sea floor
sleepy beauty you
blowing dream foam bubbles
safe
sinking into
the white opaqueness of timeless
imagining
your mystical twin
a sea kid from Atlantis
in black and silver fish skin jeans
and shirt of sea silk
with black and silver fins
you’re following him at work
measuring human wavelengths
reading the stars like the captains
on the black night ocean

don’t just stand there and wait
for Atlantis to fade
grow black silver shimmering
shark skin jeans
grow big human fins

your body has started a star
you’re snuggling with blankets
over visionary eyes
imagining
you in your cool pyjamas
silky delphinium blue
crisscrossed by links
comets connecting the heavens by numbers
in the small slope of your womb
a new star is folded
and will be born in time
covered in news stardust
you’re giving peace and space to the news
walking the sky like spirit
on soft swimming feet
listening to miniature movements
in the messenger jar of your body
your message is the star you carry
in your pyjamas delphinium blue
you’re dreaming in sync
with life unfolding

at your desk
groaning over homework
malicious maths
until jumping up
giving up
you must have music
it’s your bass player playing
sweet subterranean electric basslines
from inside planet Earth
on your bed
hurling yourself into the feeling
deep vibrations saturations
closing your physical eyes
opening your soul’s eyes wide
imagining
your mystical twin
a bass player cool charismatic
a world wonder out of this world
but you can speak to him
at least in telepathic
rich dark tones are pouring from inside planet Earth
minuscule dark flower clusters
like Chantilly lace enfolding you
a clinging dress the colour purple mystic
made from dream plum true ocean heart crimson blue
you say
I want to play the electric bass
making bass flower lace
like vitamin frills to wrap around people
like healing like feeling alive

but some say girls can’t really play the bass
there are great female bass players anyway
but you know they say
not really really play

do it anyway
