shaping peace

early morning tired

didn't sleep enough

you want to stay a bit longer

in the baby carrier of night

make yourself return to yourself

the sleepy girl in the bed

curling up under your duvet

closing your eyes again

slipping inside

fading night

imagining

you younger

in a red silk princess dress

sprinkled with ladybird spots

there's a place

a place far away

you used to sleep on the roof

near the upside down bowl of heaven

ultramarine indigo turquoise blue

pierced with stars

being little

mum and dad carrying you

the blue pyjamas you remember

but in the daytime

did you really jump about

like a red silk butterfly

tutu swirling around your brown legs

now everybody's asking you

what do you want to do

you're good at languages

good at maths

you care for people

but most of all you want

to return to that roof

want to shape smooth

ultramarine turquoise indigo

bowls out of the firmament

shaping peace in blue containers

small domes made from glazed clay

or braided from soft textiles

smooth and rounded

as safe sleep on a roof

with mum and dad carrying you

and other sleepers breathing

safe wavelengths in the night

the red silk princess dress

may not be a real memory

but your original blueprint

or it may be the future you

a sibyl enfolded in red silk

holding blue earth in your hands

like a crystal ball

passionate peace incarnate

you come walking

red silk swirling

converting

all armies to armistice

sibyl swathed in red silk

speaking to warriors

turning them to peace

while your hands are shaping blue

into heavenly bowls for people

to catch their own stars

feeling energized by this image

you jump out of bed

hurry to school

listening to music
